Funk and soul sensation Michelle David & The True-Tones is back in LantarenVenster with music from the new album Soul Woman. Just like previous times, they will blow the roof off for sure!

In search of the roots of rhythm & blues, rock-‘n-roll and soul, musicians Onno Smit and Paul Willemsen were captivated by the pure energy of this music. They decided to create their own version. Both gentlemen, seasoned with their bands Beans & Fatback and Lefties Soul Connection, found the American Michelle David to be the singer for their search for the cradle of soul.

Michelle David was born in North Carolina and grew up in New York. She has been singing in church since she was four, and a year later she was already on stage with her first gospel group: The Mission of Love. She carries soul on her tongue and in her heart. In halls, churches and at festivals, the roof flies off with David’s rousing performances. Michelle David & The True-Tones let you feel and experience the power of gospel and soul. Their music takes you from Mali in West Africa, through the Caribbean to New Orleans, and on to the Mississippi Delta Blues.
