Mamas Gun – the band name is taken from an Erykah Badu album – are known for their impressive live performances and highly infectious sound, which some say can be compared to Jamiroquai, Maroon 5 and even the Average White Band. The band scored well in the UK charts, garnered praise from The Sunday Times, Billboard, The Guardian and Uncut Magazine, and is now a big name in Japan. Mamas Gun provided support acts for Craig David, Raphael Saadiq and De La Soul, performed concerts at the Billboard Music Awards and festivals such as Love Supreme, Java Jazz and Seoul Jazz Festival. Dutch concerts were given at Rotown and Paradiso and at the festivals Parkpop and ESNS. The performances are explosions of soul, funk and pop.

Routes to Riches, the band’s debut album, was released in 2009. Last year, the band released its fifth studio album, titled Cure the Jones, which was followed up this year by the strong live album At PizzaExpress Live – In London. Cure the Jones exudes the turbulence of the Corona pandemic. The band brings a nuanced and contemporary reflection on a world turned upside down, embedded in the classic soul tradition of Bill Withers and Marvin Gaye and singing love, loss, and the most poignant social and political issues. “Cure the Jones carries on the torch of soul music. The album says something about contemporary life in a meaningful way, and retains the authenticity of how earlier soul albums were infused with social consciousness were made.” said singer Andy Platts.
