Squid
British post-punk band Squid are known for their explosive energy and groundbreaking sound. The band was on the MOMO Festival line-up back in 2020, but could not perform due to the pandemic. Since then, Squid have two critically acclaimed albums to their name. Led by singing drummer Ollie Judge, Squid brings a live show of psychedelic and experimental sounds. Their debut album ‘Bright Green Field’ (2021) was one of the best debut albums of the year, followed by the successful ‘O Monolith’ (2023).
If you haven’t heard them yet, start with their debut single ‘Houseplants’ (2019) – an intense burst of post-punk infused with krautrock, jazz, and art rock. Think Talking Heads on overdrive, LCD Soundsystem, and a shot of espresso, all wrapped into one.
‘This is complex music […] but it’s fascinating, rewarding of persistence and totally worth losing yourself in.” – The Times
“Fascinatingly, Squid are still somewhere off the map.” – Pitchfork
