It’s true that Sam Vano’s songs tend to manifest in stillness. But once they come out, they speak with an honesty – and a resonance – that belies the Amsterdam-based songwriter’s tender voice and guitar playing.

Though the 26-year-old Vano has tallied plenty of musical miles on his soul with alt-country/Americana outfit Sam & Julia, his 2023 debut EP solitaire unraveled yet another layer of wistful reflection. Songs that explore the final embers of relationships, imposter syndrome and the lure of loneliness inside of the buzzing metropolis.

With newer gems such as “Hannah” and “Winter Baby” out, Vano is set to release his LP “selfhelpingmehelpmyself”,  an assembly of intimate, wryly melancholic tales, recorded with an inner circle of kindred musicians in a small studio. 

In the meantime, Vano has been building a steady following both home and abroad, with performances alongside Tim Knol, the Dawn Brothers, The Cactus Blossoms and Victoria Canal under his belt. A vagabond spirit who has songs and will travel. So if you happen to see him, say hello.
