Festival 2026
Rival Consoles
Under the project Rival Consoles, multidisciplinary artist Ryan Lee West builds immersive sonic worlds with his visionary production smarts, fusing ambient, widescreen techno and synth-driven electronica into his own distinct language. West, the first artist signed to renowned imprint Erased Tapes (Nils Frahm, Olafur Arnalds), has spent almost two decades releasing atmospheric, texturally rich masterpieces that inspire many revisits.
For the latest Rival Consoles-offering Landscape from Memory, Lee rekindled his love for the creative process by taking his craft outside of the comfort of his home studio, juxtaposing more DIY-methods – through, for example, acoustic guitars – with his minute mastery of sound design. It results in his most vulnerable work to date, with “Catherine” particularly unraveling as a sonic declaration of love.
Next to making magic as a recording artist, Rival Consoles always puts great care into mind-expanding audiovisual live experiences: a soul-stirring display that sheds new light and contrasts within his rich musical catalog.
“Impossible to ignore, and hard to forget” — Pitchfork
“Rival Consoles has diversified from a project known for its challenging, fast-paced, beat-driven techno into the more conceptual, metamorphic sounds” – Clash Magazine
