R3LN4CHT

R3LN4CHT is a modular collective rooted in (queer) nightlife and contemporary pop- and visual culture. R3LN4CHT makes theatre performances, experimental work, club nights, and community meetings. They consider their work a hybrid art project that moves across various contexts. Work completed under the vision of R3LN4CHT is explicit, demands active spectatorship, and questions the codes of artistic spaces.

R3LN4CHT’s new performance piece Safety Sirens explores the dynamics of safety work in nightlife. Based on an ever-growing collection of interviews with awareness team members, door hosts, club managers, floor angels, and bar staff, performers Didi Kreike and Hélène Vrijdag developed multiple “siren songs”. In close collaboration with five different music producers, they followed the dramaturgy of a club night and unraveled the structures surrounding social safety. With Safety Sirens, R3LN4CHT aims to expose the underlying nuances of our contemporary obsession with security.

Safety Sirens is a multi-channel sound performance in which R3LN4CHT plays with the definitions of pop concert, space, and composition. The experimental interplay of soundscapes, confessionals, vocals, and textures immerses the audience in a 360-degree live experience, set within a spatial sound design by Ruben Kotkamp.
