The title of Irish folk pop artist Nell Mescal’s latest EP The Closest We’ll Get wryly sums it up: the studio process in recording these songs required Mescal to perform her songs live without the option to listen back or do retakes. These circumstances summoned this rising young songwriter’s most candid and urgent collection of songs to date, sometimes even capturing her at her emotionally breaking point. 

Mescal’s music already caught the ear of heavyweights like Shania Twain, HAIM and Florence + The Machine – all for whom she played support shows. Gifted by a lived-in voice that reveals a far longer lifetime than her total years of life, Mescal is destined for a similar level of notoriety as those aforementioned.
