Festival 2026

MOMO presents: demo / Saturday

During two evenings of MOMO Festival, Roodkapje’s former space at the Schieblok is activated as a melting pot of local musicians, labels, and promoters, from DIY to academically trained, rooted in experimentation. demo is an opportunity for festival-goers and anyone curious to engage with non-conventional music practices and local initiatives, bringing music discovery physically closer.

Six labels and initiatives from the Netherlands and Belgium inhabit the space, working both on and off the stage. Live performances sit alongside installations, publications, and other contributions, turning Roodkapje into a shared environment rather than a strictly stage-based evening.

The “Living Room of Sound” installation is open from 15:00, while performances begin at 20:00.

Program Saturday 18 April

Laura Kampman (Patricia’s Pillow) | 20:00-20:45
Laura Kampman is a photographer and composer. A tender experimentalist who, in recent years, has specialized in capturing memories through sound rather than images. Using her phone, she records the sounds of her surroundings: conversations, melodies, objects and intimate moments. She weaves these recordings into layered, unique soundscapes. And with success: her debut album Coming into Daily Life (2024) was featured in the year-end list of Boomkat, one of the largest independent online record stores for innovative music. This EP provided a way for her to process the grief she felt when she lost someone close. Retreating from the outside world, she found safety behind her phone’s screen and instead of listening to music, became ever more drawn to voice and location recordings, acting like a kind of surrogate memory bank. You’ll hear voices overlap watery drips and improvisations—on guitar, piano and glockenspiel—allowing us to peer into her shared surroundings. During her live set she will play her guitar and use her voice to form songs on top of these recordings. For this performance she will play through an eight-speaker spatial installation, made in collaboration with 4D Sound.

Kim David Bots (South of North) | 21:15-22:00
Kim David Bots (1988, Amsterdam) is an artist and musician based in The Hague interested in fragmentary storytelling, the ways in which stories build and branch out over time, and their ability to frame, fracture and infect reality. Kim’s work often starts from found or encountered sound, phrases, objects, images or spaces that give way to written, auditory, spatial or musical narratives. His work has been shown and performed at, amongst others, Stroom (Den Haag), Wiels (Brussels) and Eye Filmmuseum (Amsterdam). In his improvised musical performances he meanders through samples guided by a clarinet. Recently, the record Instrumental Romance was released by Amsterdam/Paris-based label South of North. The work is loosely based around a CD Kim found in the river the Meuse in Maastricht together with his dogfriend Miemel.

Tomas Casella (Mari’s) | 22:30-23:15
Tomas Casella is a boundary-pushing vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer based in the vibrant city of Ghent, Belgium. Drawing deep inspiration from his roots in Brazil’s sun-soaked São Paulo coast and the eclectic cultural landscape of Belgium, Casella crafts a rich, kaleidoscopic sound. His music weaves together the lush harmonies of jazz, the soul-stirring melodies of R&B, and the irresistible pulse of tropical rhythms like Baile Funk, Samba, and Afoché. Casella’s work is a celebration of contrasts—blending tradition with modernity and crafting music that feels both vibrant and intimate.

About Patricia’s Pillow Patricia’s Pillow operates largely from one incentive: the removal of experimental music from its niche and unspecific genus and subsequent recontextualisation within everyday spaces and the banal. Founded by Roman Willems, Laura Kampman, and Joris Takken, the trio focuses on concerts without stages—communal experiences where performers and audience share the same level.

About South of North Founded in 2018, Amsterdam-Paris based South of North takes pleasure in the outer edges of music, a premise imbued in the label since its inception. DJ and founder Dominik Rodemann (Marathon Man) was working at Red Light Radio when he met 1980s local jazz fixture Ronald Langestraat, leading to both the birth of the imprint and its first release, a reissue of Langestraat’s album Searching.“Open to anything that feels right,” with artists that possess a clear “sense of a possible longer future together,” South of North continues to release music across genres that is timeless and playful, emphasizing audience and community engagement through live events.

About Mari’s MARI’S is a residency/off-space offering artists shelter and a place to craft and present their work. Best known for Music@Mari’s, a recurring concert series, Mari’s has also hosted exhibitions, film screenings, a pop-up shop, and more ways of artistic expression.
