Fugitive Roots

Registration required (scroll down for the form)

Fugitive Roots invites you to move through the city as a shifting ground of memory, migration and imagination. Guided by the coordinator of MOMO’s Open Call, this walking tour combines a selection of Open Call projects into a shared journey. As we visit the artworks and performances, we will reflect on what it means to belong in times of uncertainty.

How do we carry our histories without being confined by them? What does it mean to refuse harmful structures while remaining present and grounded? While walking, we will recognise the city as a site of refusal, care and re-rooting. Through encounters with performance, installation and sound, we will consider how artists explore home, diaspora and identity and how we ourselves navigate these questions through engaging with their work.

This tour offers space to reflect and consider how belonging can be practiced rather than possessed. Together, we explore how roots can travel, how belonging can stretch, and how presence can take unexpected forms.
