Hania Rani is one of those artists you only encounter once every 100 years. The neoclassical pianist stirs up a sea of emotions at the touch of a key. Her music moves you; elusive yet accessible like a full moon shining over a lake at night. It seems so close, but it’s so far away.

The Polish composer made many ears perk up with her beautiful solo album Esja in 2019. A debut full of minimal compositions with maximum effect. Her way of playing is closely related to the Polish landscape she grew up in, you can almost see the Bieszczady Mountains looming up when you listen to her music. The new album On Giacometti, released in February, was also highly praised. On this album, Hania Rani experiments with light soundscapes to support her neoclassical piano. Hania will delight Rotterdam again.
