Over the past years, Black Friday has grown into a day of immense consumerism and capitalism. This year, we’re doing things differently: instead of buying more, we’re investing in something valuable. That’s why today we’re spotlighting three local initiatives working towards a better future.

Vers Beton
An independent journalistic platform striving for an honest city. “We monitor power and expose power structures and structural societal problems through financially independent journalism.”

Glazen Huis Actie

Son Little returns to Rotterdam following his sold-out show at LantarenVenster in 2024. This time, he brings his new album CITYFOLK, set for release in March 2026.

Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.

The American artist has worked with The Roots, RJD2, and Portugal. the Man, and produced soul legend Mavis Staples’ 2015 EP (including a GRAMMY-winning track). Over the past decade, he’s cultivated a sound shaped by soul, blues, folk, hip-hop, and R&B – without ever settling fully into any one space. Recent singles “in orbit” and “be better” offer a first glimpse of what’s to come.

Son Little’s live show is raw, expressive, and always evolving – moving fluidly between deep grooves, stripped-down intimacy, and moments that feel completely improvised yet emotionally precise. Following a run through the UK and Europe supporting Larkin Poe, he brings his distinctive voice back to Rotterdam.

An intimate evening with one of R&B’s most distinctive voices.

Presented by BIRD, Rotown, LantarenVenster en MOMO Concerts.

British drummer, percussionist and composer Tom Skinner returns to Rotterdam on 22 January 2026!

Ticket are on sale now via Ticketmaster.

Remember Tom Skinner’s memorable artist residency at MOMO Festival 2024, where he presented his work across three days in unique settings throughout Rotterdam? Now the British drummer returns to the city with his latest project.

Skinner has spent two decades at the heart of London’s underground music scene, performing with Sons of Kemet and The Smile (alongside Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood). Yet it’s in his recent solo work where his singular vision truly shines: music where jazz tradition meets experimental freedom, where composed beauty dissolves into improvised spontaneity.

His latest album Kaleidoscopic Visions captures this alchemy perfectly. With a stellar quintet featuring two tenor saxophones, cello, double bass and Skinner’s evocative percussion, the music shifts like light through a prism. From meditative passages to soaring collective improvisation, these are compositions that breathe, that demand attention while rewarding every moment of it.

This intimate concert offers a rare chance to experience Skinner’s kaleidoscopic world up close, in the seated setting of LantarenVenster.

This concert is presented by LantarenVenster and MOMO Concerts. Please note: this is a seated concert with free choice of seating.

The Boxer Rebellion returns to Maassilo Rotterdam on 18 March 2026, presenting their new album (March 2026)!

Ticket sales start on Friday 7 November 12:00 via Ticketmaster.

London band The Boxer Rebellion are known for their grand, stadium-worthy anthems. With an eye for detail, they build layered productions that sound clear and spacious, while the warm, reverberating vocals flow straight into your heart and lift you up effortlessly. With The Second I’m Asleep (March 2026), their seventh studio album, The Boxer Rebellion writes a new chapter in their impressive story full of world tours, film and TV collaborations and a loyal global fanbase.

All these years, The Boxer Rebellion has built on its unmistakable sound: alternative rock songs that are as awe-inspiring in their dynamics as the average stadium act, but nevertheless fall back on the intimacy of that one charming band from the local pub. A band with modesty and character!

This concert is presented by Rotown, MOMO Concerts and Maassilo. Please note: the venue has standing room only.

EXTRA SHOW – Due to the great demand for the De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, an extra show has been added on 26 February 2026 at Maassilo! The show in Rotterdam on Friday 27 February 2026 is sold out.

Tickets for the extra concert on Thursday 26 February 2026 are on sale now via Ticketmaster.

De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig celebrates its twentieth anniversary with a grand celebration, including a performance at Rotterdam’s Maassilo. What started with “Watskeburt?!” grew into a cultural phenomenon. DJVT brought hip hop to the mainstream with their catchy mix of beats, humour and absurdist poetry. Hits like “Sterrenstof” and “Get Spanish” followed, as did a series of successful albums. Twenty years later, they’re still at the top of their game. Legends don’t age, they evolve.

This concert is presented by Rotown, MOMO Concerts and Maassilo. Please note: the venue has standing room only.

A limited number of extra tickets have just been released for Wende’s sold-out show on 1 November 2025 at De Doelen! Get yours now via Ticketmaster.

In Vrijplaats, Wende goes back to basics. In this performance, Wende transforms the track into a sanctuary; a place where everything is possible. Together with keyboardist Nils Davidse, she takes the audience on a journey with a soundtrack consisting of nothing more than two pianos and her voice.

After the sold-out extra show at De Doelen last Sunday, Wende takes this stage one last time on Saturday 1 November 2025. Don’t miss your chance to experience it live.

Motel Mozaïque (MOMO) supports the cultural boycott of Israel.

Together with more than 875 Dutch and Belgian artists & cultural workers and nearly 300 cultural institutions, we wish to no longer remain bystanders to the ongoing war crimes, crimes against humanity and what has been widely recognized by all authoritative institutions as a genocide of the Palestinian people.

With immediate effect, and in response to sustained calls from Palestinian artists and civil society at large, we declare a cultural boycott of the Israeli state and of all Israeli institutions and companies. Exempted from the boycott are those Israeli institutions and companies that are not complicit in violations of international law and have unequivocally spoken out against genocide, apartheid and the illegal occupation. The boycott is explicitly not directed at individuals or their origins, and therefore not at Jewish people or Israelis as such, but rather at the complicity of the Israeli state and Israeli institutions and companies in grave human rights violations against the Palestinian people.
