Meet… Weval.

Weval is this beautiful limbo where all of Harm Coolen and Marijn Scholte Albers’s musical proclivities are cherrypicked, (re)contextualized and cultivated into an electronic sound they can truly call their own. Listening to Weval is simultaneously realising the immense care and keenness the Dutch duo put into their chosen craft, and a surrender to one’s deepest listening instincts.

We travelled to their studio in Amsterdam to get to talk to Harm, about their roots, future projects and the perfect performance. Watch the video below:

Meet… Fellatio. If we can believe frontman Abel, possibly the greatest band of history. With their participation in Popronde 2025, their performances at Left Of the Dial and Noorderslag, they have solidified their absurd, eclectic presence within the Benelux “Post-Avant-Garde Krautpop Disco Punk”-scene.

On the Thursday of MOMO Festival they might turn the world upside down for a little bit. Take a look, but be warned: it might get sweaty.

Meet Djuwa Mroivili, pianist, composer, theatre maker and all round performer based in Amsterdam. Currently, she is finalising her new work “Mx. CoelaCunt will live forever,” which will be premiering during MOMO Festival 2026.

Mx. CoelaCunt will live forever is a tribute to everything that moves, shifts, and refuses to disappear. An ode to survival and the different ways we do this.

Through the slipstream of the two sisters’ voices in perfect harmony there are a lot of scars, memories, warnings and the coping of severe change embedded within. If anything, Sarah Julia are proving that songs – even one’s own songs – can be a form of time traveling where one gets to relive things all over again.

As much as their music can feel like personal mementos, Sarah Julia have quickly captured hearts, minds and imaginations on an international scale. We got the chance to get to know them a bit, before their Rotterdam homecoming show during MOMO Festival 2026. Grab your ticket now!

Met Motel Mozaïque gaat onze energie jaarrond naar drie kernactiviteiten: MOMO Festival, ons driedaags multidisciplinair stadsfestival, MOMO Concerts, de Rotterdamse concertserie  (we boekten o.a. S10, Willem & Jacob Banks), en MOMO Create waar talentontwikkeling centraal staat. Hiermee is Motel Mozaïque in Rotterdam een bewegend en altijd groeiend mozaïek van mensen, kunst, cultuur en muziek, verbonden door gelijkheid en begrip, waarbij de mens centraal staat. De onderdelen van het mozaïek staan op zichzelf en wij verbinden ze tot een verhaal, een opzwepend concert of een adembenemende dansvoorstelling. We maken nieuwe verbindingen tussen kunstenaars, openen deuren naar onbekende locaties, laten Rotterdam zien aan nationale en internationale gasten en brengen talenten verder. Het team van MOMO bestaat uit een vast kernteam dat het hele jaar actief is voor de stichting. Tijdens piekmomenten komt er een flexibele laag bij van professionals en young talents.

Young talents Club
De Young Talent Club (YTC) is een jaarlijks terugkerend programma waarin we beginnende talenten een half jaar volledig laten meedraaien in ons team, ongeacht opleiding, achtergrond of CV – we kijken enkel naar de motivatie. De YTC is opgericht omdat we merkten dat er weinig ruimte beschikbaar is binnen de sector om ervaring op te doen voor jonge professionals die in de muziek- of festivalscene willen werken, al helemaal als ze niet over de juiste opleidingsachtergrond beschikken. Inmiddels is de 6e editie van de YTC net van start gegaan, waarvoor we maar liefst 120 aanmeldingen mochten ontvangen.

In de gedachte van de Young Talent Club is in 2022 gestart met een positie voor een Young Talent in het bestuur. Als Young Talent bestuurslid, ben je volwaardig onderdeel van ons 6 koppig bestuur voor een termijn van vier jaar. In deze periode is er coaching en begeleiding beschikbaar van de overige bestuursleden op alle vlakken van het leiden van een culturele organisatie. Daarnaast helpen de bestuursleden je om comfortabel te worden met de rol van bestuurder door je te helpen bij, bijvoorbeeld, het begrijpen van een jaarrekening, het maken van risico-analyses of het opzetten van lange-termijnstrategiën

Voor de periode 2025 – 2028 is de positie van Young Talent bestuurslid vrijgekomen. Voor deze functie zoeken wij iemand die: 

– Affiniteit heeft met wat Motel Mozaique doet, en onze waarden deelt;
– Leergierig is en graag (meer) wil leren over culturele organisaties;
– Connectie voelt met het culturele (nacht)leven in Rotterdam;
– Goed in staat is belangen tegen elkaar af te wegen, en op basis daarvan een oordeel kan vormen;
– Een open blik heeft;
– Bereid is om kennis en netwerk in te zetten voor de ontwikkeling van Motel Mozaïque
– Een integere en eerlijke houding heeft;

Taken
– Het leveren van inhoudelijke bijdrage op strategisch niveau in de zes bestuursvergaderingen per jaar;
– Het toetsen en vaststellen van beleid in de bestuursvergaderingen
– Gevraagd en ongevraagd optreden als adviseur van de directie;
– Het desgevraagd actief bijdragen aan projecten in dienst van de doelen van de stichting;
– Het verruimen van de blik van het bestuur van de directie van Motel Mozaïque

De functie kan vervuld worden door zowel een Engels- als Nederlandssprekend persoon, Nederlands kunnen lezen is wel noodzakelijk.

Do you have a passion for sharing hidden gems and unique stories about Rotterdam? Motel Mozaïque is looking for passionate and creative individuals or organizations to join our team of tour guides for MOMO Festival in April 2025!

What are guided tours?

The guided tours of MOMO Festival are unique experiences offered during the festival, designed to showcase the hidden gems and lesser-known aspects of Rotterdam. Led by passionate locals and experts, the tours provide participants with fresh perspectives on the city through various activities, including walks, workshops, and interactive explorations. Each tour highlights different themes, from cultural explorations to social issues, allowing visitors to engage deeply with the city’s diverse landscape. With locals who know Rotterdam inside and out, these tours have become a staple of the Motel Mozaïque festival experience. 

What are we looking for?

We’re on the lookout for individuals or organizations eager to showcase Rotterdam from a fresh perspective. This could be through a walk, workshop, activity—whatever you can imagine!

Here are some examples of guided tours we’ve had in the past, but don’t let these limit your creativity: wild foraging walks, tours exploring gentrification, journeys into Rotterdam’s snack culture and a tour about Rotterdam’s colonial and slavery past and its significance in today’s city. Sky’s the limit!

Who can apply?

Anyone who feels a connection to Rotterdam! Whether you’re a local expert, a passionate storyteller, or simply someone who loves the city, we would love to hear from you.

What do we offer?

All guided tour guides will receive a pass-partout for MOMO Festival 2025. Plus, our experienced team is here to support you with conceptualizing and organizing your tour—whenever you need a hand. Additionally, a modest fee of € 120 is available to cover production costs associated with your tour, or you may choose to keep it as compensation.

What is the timeline?

• November 15, 2024: Deadline application
• November 25, 2024: We will review all submissions carefully and select 2 submissions. Everyone who has applied will hear more from us this week.
• December 2024 till April 2025: We have all the time to brainstorm about the exact content and more details. Our team is there to think along if needed!
• April 17, 18 and 19, 2025: MOMO Festival! The tours will take place on Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th.
