Pigeon
Energetic five-piece Pigeon are all about cosmic exploration, spiritual transformation and unbridled spontaneity.
Don’t let the band’s sleepy English seaside setting of Margate fool you, as Pigeon’s work lifts inspiration from sounds spanning all over the globe. Elements of Afro-disco, electroclash, rock, and synth pop are forged into something individualistic and incessantly fun.
The group, featuring members of Michael Kiwanuka’s band, released debut album OUTTANATIONAL, a thrilling collection of powder keg party songs, sparked by the spirited performance of the group’s charismatic vocalist Falle Nioke. Nioke comes from Conakre, the capital of the West African nation of Guinea, he picked the band name after the type of bird he used to tend to as a youth, where he honed his voice before moving to England in 2018 and establishing a reputation as a multilingual singer of dance records.
As for a shorthand on Pigeon’s vibrant sound: think William Onyeabor in outer-space or early Hot Chip making motorik afrobeat in a 70s New York loft. Having been featured on 6Music and performing live slots at UK festivals like Glastonbury, Pigeon brings a thrillride of heady krautrock, post-punk and punk-funk, indebted to the power of the groove. Long story short: pigeon must fly!
