Motel Mozaique Festival 2018 was in full swing from Thursday, April 19, to Sunday, April 22 at noon. For 65 hours you could visit concerts, performances and art at ten different locations in Rotterdam. From a concert in the construction site at Depot Boijmans van Beuningen to parties on the roof of the Groot Handelsgebouw.

The festival was almost completely sold out. The opening evening with, among others, SOHN and Ivo Dimchev on Thursday, a packed Saturday and the Garage Party in the Groot Handelsgebouw were all sold out.

The program included more than 150 concerts, performances, tours and world premieres by (inter)national artists. The musical standouts of the contrasting program were Nakhane, Songhoy Blues, Amenra, Tshegue, Tamino, Otzeki, Natalie Prass, Lewsberg and The Weather Station. In the field of performance, the Norwegian Th’Line presented contemporary dance that does not simply color outside the lines, but shamelessly erases them. The talented choreographer Ariah Lester from Venezuela also made waves with his boundary-pushing performance.

“In the Paradijsker, all music seems to take wings. Intensely the South African Nakahne triumphs as a soulful queer artist with a mission. The irony is not missed: he distanced himself from his homophobic church community, now he continues, dancing fiercely in a bright red suit , in an overflowing church, made a fiery statement.” – NRC

MOMO Fabrique 2018

On Saturday 8 September 2018, we once again delved into the adventurous city port area of Merwe-Vierhavens (M4H) with a raucous edition of Fabrique Mozaïque.

Including a very cool block party with performances by hip-hop icons Rico & Sticks, Anne-Fay and Elijah Waters from Green Cabin. This block party took place between the gigantic works of renowned artist Joep van Lieshout.

Our live event series MOMO Concerts in 2018 invited Grouper, Klangstof, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Mavis Staples, Binkbeats, The Tallest Man on Earth, Ólafur Arnalds, Curtis Harding, Jungle By Night, John Cale and more.
