Accessibility at MOMO Festival 2024
We aim for our festival to be easily accessible to everyone and that is why we have our festival tested for accessibility by Marianne Dijkshoorn of the consultancy firm Welcome Accessibility & Events.
We are still learning about our accessibility and are open to comments, questions or suggestions. You can reach us at support@motelmozaique.nl for all things related to accessibility.

Arminius
Accessibility: The regular entrance is not wheelchair accessible, but there’s an elevator at the side entrance.
Adapted parking space: Not available.
Elevator: On the left side of the building (as seen from the road), at the side entrance. Be aware: this is not being communicated at the location itself. The elevator can be used to access the venue and the toilets.
Low-Stimulus Space: Not available.

Wheelchair-accessible toilet: It is accessible by the elevator at the side entrance. The toilet meets the requirements due to folded-out toilet brackets and sufficient manoeuvring space in front of and next to the toilet bowl.

Extra: There is no evacuation chair present at the stairs.
Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen
Accessibility: Depot is fully accessible for people with walking difficulties and visitors who use a walker, rollator, mobility scooter or wheelchair. Click here to find more information about the accessibility of Depot – Boijmans.
Adapted parking space: The nearest car park is the Museumpark parking garage, located next to the Depot.
Elevator: Our program is on the ground floor and accessible for wheelchairs.
Low-Stimulus Space: Not available.

Wheelchair-accessible toilet: There are wheelchair-accessible toilets on the ground floor and the sixth floor. Depot does not have adult changing tables.
Wheelchair spaces: You can request this by contacting support@motelmozaique.nl. If you want to use a folding stool during a guided tour, please tell the guide at the start of the tour.
Extra: The audience will sit on the stairs of Depot. There are no chairs present.
Kunsthal Rotterdam
Accessibility: Kunsthal is wheelchair accessible.
Adapted parking space: Located on the parallel road of the Westzeedijk, after the underpass of the Kunsthal on the right side of the sidewalk.
Elevator: There are multiple elevators to make the full exhibition accessible.

Wheelchair-accessible toilet: Located at ground floor level.

MOMO Playground
Accessibility: MOMO Playground is accessible by wheelchair.
Adapted parking space: In the parking garage Schouwburgplein.

Low-Stimulus Space: At Theater Rotterdam (see Theater Rotterdam).

Accessibility: The venue is not completely level, since there is a small step at the entrance, but there is a platform lift to resolve this.

Elevator: There is a platform lift at the entrance (which can also be used in case of an emergency).

Rotown
Accessibility: The event space is located on the ground floor and is directly accessible from the street.

Emergencies: There are two exits; the main and side entrance (which has an emergency exit sign). The latter is narrow and has a corner which makes it more difficult to navigate through.
Sahara
Accessibility: The venue is not on the ground floor and can only be reached by going down a long staircase.

Theater Rotterdam
Grote Zaal: 6 wheelchair spaces (request in advance), accessible by elevator, induction loop system.
Kleine Zaal: 2 wheelchair spaces (request in advance), ground floor, induction loop system.
Krijn Boon Studio: 2 wheelchair spaces (request in advance), accessible by elevator, no induction loop system.
Erker: not accessible by wheelchair, no induction loop system.
Hal: wheelchair spaces, ground floor, no induction loop system.
Hal Theater: wheelchair spaces, ground floor, no induction loop system.
Adapted parking space: In the parking garage Schouwburgplein.
Elevator: The elevator, in the hall of Theater Rotterdam, can only be used with help from an employee. The employees can be busy, so this could take some extra time.
Low-Stimulus Space: On Friday (from 17.00 till 00.00) and Saturday (from 15.00 till 00.30) in the Tuinkamer at Theater Rotterdam (ground floor).
Presence of Induction Loop System: You can request this by contacting support@motelmozaique.nl for your visit to the ‘Grote Zaal’ and ‘Kleine Zaal’.
Wheelchair-accessible toilet: On the ground floor. Be aware that this toilet is narrow and there is not a lot of manoeuvring space next to the toilet because of the trash bin. Also, the toilet paper holder on the wall is difficult to reach from the toilet bowl itself.
Wheelchair spaces: You can request this by contacting support@motelmozaique.nl for your visit at the ‘Grote Zaal’, ‘Kleine Zaal’ (in front of the audience on the stage) and ‘Krijn Boon Studio’. Requesting a space in advance is not necessary for the ‘Hal’ and ‘Hal Theater’. ‘Erker’ is not accessible by wheelchair.
Extra: Evacuation is carried out by public service and technical staff. During the walk-in, they are alert to where people are who need extra help/support in the event of an evacuation.
V11
Accessibility: The ship is not accessible by wheelchair because of the limited space. Also, the ship needs to be entered by a narrow and steep gangway.
Adapted parking space: Not available.
Elevator: There is an elevator, but be aware of the overall accessibility of V11.
Low-Stimulus Space: Not available.
Presence of Induction Loop System: Not available.
Wheelchair-accessible toilet: Not available. The toilets of V11 are very narrow.
Wheelchair spaces: Not available.
WORM
Accessibility: WORM is accessible with a wheelchair from the entrance on Boomgaardsstraat. UBIK is only accessible through CS (the main hall), which means that it is only accessible between live acts for a short amount of time depending on the schedule for CS. CS and Foyer are wheelchair accessible by elevator and the Gallery is on the ground floor.
Adapted parking space: In the parking garage Westblaak.
Elevator: Available for reaching all the different rooms.
Low-Stimulus Space: Not available.
Presence of Induction Loop System: Not available.
Wheelchair-accessible toilet: The Gallery has its own toilet. Visitors of the Foyer, CS and UBIK can use the toilet in the Foyer underneath the stairs. It can be difficult for someone else to help out here because you can’t stand up everywhere, but in case of need, there is also an accessible toilet for the employees/artists that can be used.

Emergencies: There is only one way to leave the space with a wheelchair (the elevator). In case of fire or emergencies in which the elevator cannot be used, someone should be instructed to carry the person and/or wheelchair outside. There is no visual evacuation alarm.
ASSISTANCE DOG ADVICE:
Apart from the talks at MOMO PlayGround, we do not offer an animal-friendly environment for an assistance dog and therefore we, as MOMO, are not in favour of bringing a guide and assistance dog to a festival, even though this is permitted by law. In our opinion, the sound volume and the crowds in combination with the dog is not suitable. An opinion that is in line with the advice of KNGF Guide Dogs. They indicate that a dog can no longer perform its work properly due to crowds and noise and therefore loses its function as a guide and assistance dog for the blind. Finally, we think the well-being of the dog is important to include in this.
CODE OF CONDUCT
We strive to keep our festival space as safe and accountable as possible. Our house rules and general terms and conditions help us to achieve this goal. We believe that we are collectively responsible for each other, and we need all of you to make this a reality!
Our code of conduct is reviewed every year to incorporate feedback from the previous edition of the festival, improving our approach to social safety. It would be great if you could read this carefully, to make MOMO the most respectful and safe experience as possible.
FLOOR ANGELS
If you feel unwell or unsafe, please do not hesitate to contact our floor angels. They will be wearing fluorescent vests and can be approached at any time. Your safety is important to us. We will also have door hosts during the Friday and Saturday nights of MOMO. They will go over our house rules before entry.
HIDDEN DISABILITY SUNFLOWER KEY-CHORD
Our crew is briefed about the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Key-chord. We will try to be alert and recognize the key-chords and discreetly offer extra support, help or extra time, depending on what seems to be needed. Check out their website for more information about the key-chords.
SIGN LANGUAGE/SUPPORT

STROBE LIGHTS
Some of the performances include strobe lights and might be triggering for people with photosensitive epilepsy. It is indicated on the performance page, get in touch via support@motelmozaique.nl for more info.
