Michelle Samba at Explore The North

After showcasing Hit Me Baby One More Time at MOMO Festival 2023, multidisciplinary artist Michelle Samba will bring the performance to Explore The North Festival, together with the installation What’s Up.

Michelle Samba’s total installation What’s Up will transform De Kanselarij (Leeuwearden) into an immersive realm of artistic exploration over the three days of the event. It offers visitors a multi-sensory experience. Through installations, multimedia and interactive elements, Samba encourages you to delve into the nuances of being human. Samba also shows the five performances Hit Me Baby One More Time. This work can be seen together for the first time in De Kanselarij as the highlight of the installation. This series is a conceptual and performative series of critical and biographical work, inspired by the murder of her mother, investigating responsibility and empathy regarding the mother, the murderer and the murder itself. You will be mesmerised as you witness the evolution of Samba’s artistry through these powerful and thought-provoking performances. This exhibition promises to leave an indelible mark on your heart and soul.
