Erasmus Prize-nominated Dutch formation Sirocco are like a Henri Matisse painting in the shape of a band: a dazzling 10-unit ensemble stirring elements of jazz, Afrobeat, dub and funk into this rousing, groove-infested soirée.

Founded by composer Ko Kunst and tenor sax player Max van Houtum, Sirocco isn’t just about spreading joy, movement and community. There’s a bigger overarching sense of radicalism as to why they do what they do best. Their genre-blending wizardry has become a mission statement to shatter barriers both physical and mental – from social bubbles to our fixation on smart phone screens.

Sirocco considers their performances as much a conversation as entertainment, and they invite you to become an active participant. After setting rooms alight at festivals like North Sea Jazz, Noorderzon and Popronde, Sirocco’s music will swallow all onlookers up in a shared mass of supreme joie de vivre.
