Toneelacademie Maastricht (NL)

The performance students from the Theatre Academy Maastricht are independent designers and builders of theatrical installations. Twirling images that are, in total or in fragments, flawless exact or even painful frayed. Film projections and soundscapes are used. (Virtual) bodies are present and absent. ‘Being there’ gets a new meaning. In the screaming silence of the performance, in which beauty and cruelty fight against and with each other, one meets the performer.

Several alumni of the Theatre Academy Maastricht have been guests at Motel Mozaique: Sadettin Kirmizyuz, Nick Steur, Nick van den Berg, Annelies van Hullebusch and Lizzy Timmers. And also Akwasi O. Ansah, who gives a preview of his new show ‘Daar Ergens’, has successfully completed the Academy. This year, the following student work will be on display:

MD.VOX presents: RUSH – an epic on rave

Led by video artists Quirine Racké en Helena Muskens, Milou van Duijnhoven (second year student Theatrical Performance at Toneelacademie Maastricht) created a cross-over video. Using her pseudonym ‘MD.VOX’ she presents a short film in which rap, beat, clip, film and documentary meet. As if it where an epos, the dubstep leads her through different chapters with the theme ‘ rage’ , ‘ the fear of silence’ and the ‘ endlessly wanting it all’.

Aukje Schaafsma: GRÛN

In GRÛN, the Schiermonnikoog locals literally sing in the grounds where they were born. You will hear the story of the realisation of GRÛN and you will see the end result: the location-performance.
