Talk: Moze Naél x Winterdagen x Hami Roshan
Moderator: Sharvin Ramjan
At the end of 2018, the Rotterdam poet Moze Naél visited the refugee camps on Lesbos. At that time, there were about 30,000 refugees on the Greek island, divided between two camps, called Kara Tepe and Moria. Originally in these two camps there was room for 8000 refugees, the other refugees camped in appalling conditions on a hill between the olive trees, next to the largest camp, Moria.
A year later disaster struck and Moria burned down completely and not much later the Greek government also decided to close Kara Tepe with all the consequences that entailed.
In 2020, Moze Naél decided to return to Lesbos, where he met Berlin photographer and documentary filmmaker Hami Roshan. The two spent every day with each other, and a friendship developed, which eventually culminated in a creative collaboration. This resulted in Close to the Sea, Far from Home, an audiovisual performance with personal stories by Moze Naél, photo portraits by Hami Roshan and a musical accompaniment by producer and composer Winterdagen.
