MOMO Festival 2020

    hotly tipped post-punk, disco-funk phenomenon

Squid is not just another umpteenth post-punk band that has recently emerged in the wake of Idles. That description is too short for a formation that dares to come out so refreshingly. Postpunk, sure. But also kraut rock, jazz breaks, catchy synths, a singing drummer and a bass player who conjures up a trumpet at unguarded movements.

Since the five from Brighton impressed at showcase festival The Great escape in 2019, the music press has unanimously agreed: Squid is one of the most promising Britsh bands of the moment.

“Squid’s songs are full of surprising grooves and unexpected breaks. Not surprising by the way, because the roots of this British answer to LCD Soundsystem lie in jazz and funk.” – 3voor12
