Moze Naél x Winterdagen x Hami Roshan
In late 2018, Rotterdam poet Moze Naél (also known as M. in the spoken word circuit) visited the refugee camps on Lesbos. At that time, there were about 30,000 refugees on the Greek island, divided between two camps: Kara Tepe and Moria. A year later, disaster struck and Moria burned down completely. Not much later, the Greek government decided to close Kara Tepe as well.
In 2020, Moze Naél decided to return to Lesbos, where he met Berlin-based photographer and documentary filmmaker Hami Roshan. The two hung out together daily, and a friendship developed, which eventually turned into a creative collaboration as well. This gave rise to Dicht bij zee, ver van huis, an audiovisual performance with personal stories by Moze Naél, photographic portraits by Hami Roshan and a musical setting by producer and composer Winterdagen.
