In the Netherlands, Meskerem Mees is a well-kept secret, we wrote less than a year ago, when the young Belgian singer-songwriter entered into a unique collaboration with Spinvis during MOMO Create & Perform 2021. But that has changed rapidly: Meskerem has become a beloved guest on the Dutch stages. And her sweet folk pop is not limited to the Dutch-speaking region: she has recently performed in Berlin, Paris and the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival in Geneva.

After Meskerem’s breakthrough single ‘Joe’, which dominated the Belgian airwaves in 2020, it was a bit of a wait for her first album. But the wait was worth it: Julius has become an enchanting debut, in which Meskerem proves herself without bells and whistles as a world-class musical talent.
