MOMO

Matthew & The Atlas (UK)

Matthew Hegarty (AKA Matthew and the Atlas) was Communion Record’s first ever signing, and is woven into their history. His two EPs – ‘To The North’ and ‘Kingdom of Your Own’ – take a dreamy, textured take on Americana and filter it through Matt’s extraordinarily bruised and affecting voice.

He is a revered – almost cult – figure among his fellow artists and his genuinely global fanbase, while continuing to fly beneath the mainstream radar. The hugely anticipated debut Matthew and the Atlas album – 30 years in the making! – is expected in early 2014. You can already listen to two new songs on his website: www.matthewandtheatlas.com. On the Motel Mozaique 2014 Festival Matthew will give a stripped back performance (accompanied by one or two bandmembers).

Communion was born in the Summer of 2006 at London’s Notting Hill Arts Club. Founded by Ben Lovett (Mumford and Sons), Kevin Jones (Bear’s Den), and acclaimed producer Ian Grimble, it quickly grew into a flourishing community of musicians and fans alike, providing a first independent platform for the freshest young artists on London’s circuit and beyond. In the past years we had a lot of Communion acts on our festival: Boy & Bear, Ben Howard, Bear’s Den, Willy Mason, Foy Vance and Daughter, besides Ben Lovett’s own band.
