Lena Hessels knew at a young age that music was her calling. As the daughter of Terrie Hessels, guitarist of the illustrious impro-punk band The Ex, she regularly went on tour with them – she was eight when she first stepped onto the stage. An exciting childhood, but with a downside: with all those impressive musicians around, Hessels felt extra pressure to distinguish herself.
Still, she debuted before she was twenty with the rock EP Billow and subsequently performed at Grasnapolsky and Noorderslag, among other venues. After that she decided to take a different approach and entered the studio with producer Tender Blom (guitarist of Pip Blom). The four dark electro pop songs that resulted mark a new beginning in the young but promising music career of Hessels.
