L E K R A N T Y
In the living room of the Lekranty-Lo’ko family in Loosdrecht, music constantly sounded in the 1970s and 1980s. Pa Lekranty, who belongs to the first generation of Moluccans in the Netherlands, passed on the Moluccan musical tradition to his children.
Over forty years later, the second and third generation of musicians and dancers from the family join forces under the name L E K R A N T Y. The band puts Moluccan traditionals in a contemporary context, without losing any of their authenticity. Singer-songwriter Julya Lo’ko, who has been performing with bands like Cheyenne since the 1970s, takes the lead. And her son Gino-Cochise, who released his quirky solo debut LBM III in February, is also part of it.
