The record label Deewee, run by the Dewaele brothers (Soulwax, 2manydjs), is gradually proving itself as a hotbed for opposing pop and electronics. Laima from São Paolo is their umpteenth acquisition, and one with a big resume. Like half the Mixhell duo, Laima Leyton stood behind the turntables of the world’s most exciting clubs. Moreover, she collaborated with greats such as Moby, Buraka Som Sistema and Diplo. Her solo debut Home was released last November, full of minimalist electronics that sounds dreamy yet unheimlich.
