MOMO

Kankantrie (NL)

It’s like you’re in Paramaribo for half an hour, when you’re attending a concert of Kankantrie.

This group, led and established by Marciano Wijntuin, has become one of the most important kaseko groups of the Netherlands. Kaseko? A Japanese wine or something? Well, not quite. This kaseko is far more tasty and even danceable. Kaseko is a Suriname music style and it derived from traditional Suriname-Creole kawina music, as it was played by street musicians in Paramaribo around 1900.

This performance is part of the Papa Winti rituals.Deezer
