Jean-Michel Blais

If Bach or Mozart had lived in the 21st century, they would have used all kinds of digital music software, Canadian pianist Jean-Michel Blais is sure of that. And so he regularly samples classical compositions in his work, or has his own compositions remixed by electronic producers.

This approach met with a lot of misunderstanding during his classical music training in Quebec, but fortunately it is much better appreciated outside the confines of the conservatory. For example, since the release of his debut II (2016), Blais has performed in dozens of concert halls in Europe and North America, and his second album Dans ma main (2018) was nominated for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize.
