Jabo

Jawad Boumalek aka Jabo is a 23 year old born and bred Belgian, but his music provides a clear hint of his origins. His sample-heavy bass productions have elements of loopy North African and Middle Eastern music, which places him at the forefront of a new generation of innovative producers in Belgium. This “Moroccan Bass” sound, as Jabo calls it, defined his debut EP “Harissa” (which got support from e.g. Toddla T, and Acid Arab) appeared on Lowup Records in 2015. Its succesor “Sonic Mizwid” displays a more concise and introspective strand to his sonic identity.
