Don Melody Club
It’s hard to name a stage that Donald Madjid hasn’t already been on – as a member of The Mauskovic Dance Band, he toured the world. But when corona suddenly created an empty agenda in 2020, and so he threw himself – armed with a drum computer from the sixties and a lot of synths – into a solo project. This resulted in his first solo album Pure Donzin (2021), which Knack aptly labeled “kleinkunstfunk. In recent months, Don Melody Club has already performed at Le Guess Who and Grasnapolsky.
‘It is a peculiar, gallant sound that he has developed for his solo project: where a whole wave of Dutch-language synthpop reaches back to the eighties, Don Melody Club looks back even further: to the music of Ramses Shaffy, for example.’ – 3voor12
