“Do you ever sleep?” a teacher asked Beau Zwart when he graduated from HKU a few years ago. A fair question, because Zwart is a DJ and producer, makes soundtracks and has played classical piano since he was a child. This versatility can be heard in the Rotterdam-based DJ’s productions, in which he fuses funk, house and jazz into a stimulating whole. He has performed at ADE, Grasnapolsky and Noorderslag, among other venues.
Beau Zwart is in residence at BlueCity, the testing ground for the circular economy in the old Tropicana swimming pool. For two months, he engaged with the entrepreneurs and makers of the BlueCity Lab, and was inspired by raw materials such as seaweed, residual fruit, mycelium and mealworms. He will perform the new music resulting from this special project for the first time during MOMO.
