Deze Mona & BOX (Saga)

Belgian band Dez Mona and and BOX (Baroque Orchestration) astonish, surprise and delight with the opera SÁGA. Prepare yourself for a unique musical adventure through the tales of the soul! This is a true Gesamtkunstwerk to which artists from many different disciplines all make their own contribution. The centre of the work is the Brussels band Dez Mona. The group, based around the phenomenal voice of Gregory Frateur and double bass player Nicolas Rombouts, peerlessly blends jazz, gospel music and spirituals. For SÁGA, however, they must pit themselves against baroque music and the elegance, suitability for dance and dramatic power that it embodies. At the same time, this ‘early’ musical texture gives a new dynamic to their compositions. The musicians go in search of their love for their country, the world in which we live, beauty and the lack of beauty as well for light in dark places. Can we hope for improvement or is this a utopian dream?
