Characteristic is their abrasive guitar pounce, which sounds as if they’re being destroyed by a shredder in an industrial building. Hidden under that hailstorm of fuzz are honey-like pop melodies that stick to you like cotton candy.
Damage And Joy – just like the groundbreaking Psychocandy – is a fitting title to reintroduce The Jesus and Mary Chain to a new generation. The album featured guest contributions from Isobel Campbell and Sky Ferreira and is helmed by Youth (bassist of the Killing Joke). A whole bunch of new bands are indebted to The Jesus and Mary Chain; Girl Band, Ulrika Spacek, Exploded View, Preoccupations and Iceage, just to name a few.
