Sensational, cinematic break-beat trio GoGo Penguin is coming back to Rotterdam! The Manchester-based band is known for its acoustic electronica, full of video game bleeps, glitchy breakbeats, hypnotic melodies and propulsive bass lines. Think an intoxicating concoction of Aphex Twin to Ishmael Ensemble, of Debussy to Portico Quartet and Bonobo to Kamasi Washington. In other words, not an ordinary piano trio!

GoGo Penguin consists of pianist Chris Illingworth, bassist Nick Blacka and drummer Jon Scott. Since the release of their debut album Fanfares, things have moved pretty fast for GoGo Penguin. Fanfares received nothing but positive reviews from the likes of The Guardian, BBC Music and Gilles Peterson. Follow-up v2.0 was also met with praise from the international press. Moreover, it earned them a Mercury Prize nomination, a record deal with Blue Note and a long series of gigs that took them past London’s Barbican Centre and Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival.

The brand new album Everything Is Going to Be OK was born out of a time of turbulence and loss. During a personally difficult period for the band, including deep personal loss and grief, the studio offered the band a refuge from real life. Bursting with the optimism of a new beginning, with a new drummer, a new record label and a subtly renewed and evolved sound, the band ushers in a more sonically liberated era.
