Composer Fabrizio Paterlini has traveled a strange – albeit very satisfying – road. The Italian musician worked as an accountant from nine to five until his mid-thirties. In his spare time, he remained glued to the piano that he learned from an early age. With the unexpected success of his album Viaggi in Aeromobile (‘air travel’), his career as a full-time composer and pianist suddenly took off, amassing over 65 million streams on Spotify alone.
It is not hard to imagine why Paterlini’s compositions managed to reach such an impressive scale: his work floats between the dramatic and the benevolent calms without straying too far into one particular direction. It’s music that keeps the emotions alert and triggers sensitivity. Recently Paterlini released the first of a trinity of new EPs, entitled Transitions. An apt name, especially if his own life story in mind. It’s never too late to be in a completely different state of being for a moment, and that is exactly the type of magical evening Paterlini also has in store for us.
