Something that will never change: DeWolff remains the most explosive and virtuoso rock trio from the low countries. What continues to change: the perspectives with which Robin Piso, the Beelzebub of the Hammond organ, together with the brothers Luka and Pablo van de Poel, continue to re-interpret the old familiar sounds within the canon of sixties rock ‘n’ roll.
Take the newest project Tascam Tapes (which will be released in January): instead of recording a few weeks in a luxurious studio, DeWolff opted to record on borrowed time. Music was written and put on tape on the tour bus, in backstage rooms or at the gas station in between destinations. The band only used portable instruments and drum samples from old, obscure soul and funk records. And all recorded material was captured with the now rare Tascam four-track recorder. In short: we will be hearing a side of DeWolff that’s unlike anything before!
Of course, an extensive tour will be part of it: Maassilo once again will be subjected to grand redecoration, courtesy of DeWolff’s golden melodies and Biblical jams.
