Motel Mozaique

Each year Motel Mozaïque organises several special cultural events such as the (inter)nationally respected Motel Mozaïque festival which offer a mix of pop music, dance, theatre and visual arts. At various indoor venues in Rotterdam distinctive programmes are presented. Motel Mozaïque showcases new and upcoming movements in different art disciplines, and the crossovers between.

Visitors are given the opportunity to stay the night in a playful, exciting way. Locations are turned into a real motel, where guests can sleep and an artist collective will take care of breakfast and other special items.

Motel Mozaïque was created during Rotterdam 2001, Cultural Capital of Europe. Initiator of the festival is Harry Hamelink. The editorial team scouts and invites artists and performers who show in their work, in addition to warmth and quality, that they are open minded. Also artists create beds in various places in the city and visitors are taken by guides to the program components that they themselves have not yet discovered.

Testimonals

De MOMO YT Club of 2019:
Nikki Georgiou, Enoma Amayo, Marlijn Cats, Sara Kerklaan, Michel van Werkhoven, TinTin Hadders, Linde Klomp, Tom Tomasowa.

Linde, Young Talent Design 2018-2019
“Last edition I did an internship at Motel Mozaïekque. I participated during the preparations, during the festival and during the completion of the festival as Young Talent Design. I was in my graduation phase at the Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam and was looking for a challenging internship and I certainly found this at MOMO! I was allowed to take pictures during the festival, to make illustrations for the festival theme, to participate in the general campaign and to work together with designers. I would certainly recommend this to other designers and creative people!

Nikki, Young Talent Curator Open Call
“Being part of the YTC of MOMO19 was really a unique experience. I have completed the Master Arts, Culture & Society and I have four years of experience in the arts and culture sector, mainly related to digital art and music festivals. Because of my role as a curator and coordinator of the Open Call of MOMO I have been able to develop further into a curator and artistic director. I got to know the creative scene of Rotterdam better and have been allowed to work together with professionals and (inter) national artists. You really become part of a close team and together you ultimately create a very cool festival.”

Michel, Young Talent Production Guided Tours
“Half a year ago I graduated from the Leisure Management course at WdKA. I felt that after this I missed some experience. Through the Young Talent program I helped with the guided tours for the festival. Together with Lara (coordinator guide program) I am I was responsible for the production of these tours. The tours have been very successful, but the atmosphere in the team is what I mainly remembered. There is a lot of respect and all ideas are welcome, which really creates a great working experience.”

Marlijn, Young Talent Copywriting
“After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Media & Cultural Sciences at the UU and several internships, I discovered that I wanted to develop further in the field of text. The MOMO YTC was the perfect place for this. I immediately received a lot of responsibility and wrote texts about cool artists and news about everything that was going to happen at the festival, all in all an enormously educational experience within a very nice team in which you are not involved as a standard intern, but as a real team member.”
