Vacancy: Open Call coordinator (X/V/M)
avg. 5 hours/week | Freelance, 1 July 2025 – 31 May 2026 | Application Deadline: June 16th

Are you passionate about supporting and empowering talented artists across all disciplines? Do you find fulfillment in thinking along in their creative process and facilitating their wildest artistic dreams? Then we might be looking for you!

With the departure of our previous coordinator, we are now looking for an experienced project coordinator to join our programming team and take the lead on the Open Call for MOMO Festival 2026.

The Open Call
Each year since 2018, Motel Mozaïque calls for creatives to present their project during MOMO Festival. Over the past couple years, this Open Call has helped numerous artists realise ambitious projects, from theatre performances, to sculptures, paintings and immersive art installations. For the previous edition of MOMO Festival, 17-19 April 2025, we joined forces with the Amarte Foundation, and this collaboration enabled us to improve and expand the Open Call process, providing a more equitable selection process, extensive guidance and an increased budget and fair fee for the selected participants.

The coming year, we’re continuing this program for MOMO Festival 2026, with the ambition to facilitate an even better creative process for a new group of budding artists.

Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for an enthusiastic (starting) professional who not only understands MOMO’s artistic vision but also recognises the complexities involved in bringing multiple art projects to life. You thrive in a team environment, communicate clearly and effectively, and bring a strong sense of responsibility to your work. Project management experience is a plus, especially if you’re skilled at maintaining oversight, working independently, and balancing multiple priorities. Flexibility is key, as the workload will vary over the course of the lead-up to the festival. We accept both Dutch and English applications!

Responsibilities of the role

  • Developing the open call concept, including writing the call text and preparing the necessary application materials;
  • Organize and coordinate the selection process in collaboration with the programming team and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Serve as the main point of contact for applicants and selected artists throughout the entire process — from application and project development to festival production and presentation;
  • Organize inspiration sessions and workshops for both applicants and selected artists;
  • Coordinate key project management tasks such as scheduling, production, contracting, budgeting, and logistics, in close collaboration with the production and business teams;
  • Maintain clear communication with applicants, artists, and the festival team throughout the full trajectory of the open call;
  • Work closely with the marketing team to ensure clear communication of the project and to develop promotional materials for the selected artists;
  • Lead the evaluation process and reporting after the festival.

What can you expect from us?

  • An assignment at a forward-thinking multi-disciplinary festival, deeply rooted in the city of Rotterdam;
  • A pleasant office environment where you’re always welcome;
  • A fair compensation in line with the guidelines of the Dutch live music and festivals association (VNPF) – including a 50% freelance supplement on top of the VNPF fee;
  • A supportive team full of passionate idealists, who value new ideas and where initiative is encouraged. We work from a foundation of trust, not blind expectation.

How to apply?
To apply, send your motivation letter and CV before June 16th via this link – and we’ll get back to you by June 20th. The interviews will be held on 25 June 2025, so keep that in mind – If that date is not an option for you, please let us know so we can plan around it if necessary.

We’re excited to announce that CHARLOT has been granted the Nieuwe Makersregeling from Fonds Podiumkunsten! Over the next two years, in collaboration with Motel Mozaïque, PMP, and O., she will explore new ways to enhance the storytelling in her music by working with various artists. Her ambition is to grow as both an artist and performer, ultimately creating an interdisciplinary show.

CHARLOT
CHARLOT experiences life through a unique lens, drawing inspiration from the conversations she hears and the details she observes. Her storytelling is deeply personal—often dark, enigmatic, and expressive. Through a rich musical landscape of bass, synthesizers, and strings, she captures the magic of reality and the surrealism of dreams.

Last year, CHARLOT and her band opened for Wende and were recognized as the #2 best act at Noorderslag by 3voor12, which stated: “CHARLOT and her band are ready for the bigger venues.” This year, they will perform at Lowlands, have been named one of the ’12 of 3voor12′, and will support Froukje at AFAS Live and Lotto Arena.

MOMO Create
Since its inception, Motel Mozaïque has been dedicated to supporting emerging artists and new creative projects. From providing a stage for up-and-coming talent to co-creating productions with various artists and organizing unique residencies, Motel Mozaïque has been at the forefront of artistic development.
In 2021, these efforts were formalized under MOMO Create, a core initiative focused on talent development and artistic storytelling. MOMO Create provides makers with the space to share their stories, explore their inspirations, and develop their creative processes.

The line-up of this year’s night program is here! We have curated the nights of 18 & 19 April together with Operator, FUGAZII, Under My Umbrella, Roda da Holanda x Diaspora Dreams, AanTafel! and the locations WORM, Club Centraal, Rotown and Time is the new space.

Access with your MOMO Festival Passe-partout or Day ticket, or get a single night-only ticket.

Jimmy Jansen will lead his renowned breathing concert, taking you on an inner journey through live music, poetry and guided breathwork. His unique combination of storytelling and gentle breathing techniques offers a deeply restorative experience, supported by trained breath guides.

Anna De Maesschalck brings her unique blend of yoga, soundhealing and mindfulness practices. With her background in music from the conservatory, Anna creates a space of inner stillness through mantra singing and sound, focusing on surrender, deep breath connection and heart-centered awareness.

Artist Teun Vonk presents his installation “The Physical Mind,” a unique bodily experience that demonstrates the profound connection between physical sensation and mental states. Participants are gently lifted and squeezed between soft inflatable objects, creating a paradoxical experience that reduces anxiety and promotes calm alertness.

Performance artist Olyve Dewi offers a ritualistic dance practice that positions the body as a transcendental instrument. Her work, rooted in her multi-cultural background, creates a dialogue with ancestry and invites audiences into a shared contemplation of creation.

To complete your healing journey, wake up to a special vegan breakfast prepared by Sofie Cuit, whose culinary approach draws inspiration from seasonal ingredients and mindful cooking practices developed through her work with Amsterdam-based catering and as junior sous chef at Kaapse Maria.
